The Corinthian visor is primarily made from recycled aramids sourced from old aramid vests and aprons. This material choice makes the visor 10% lighter than currently used polycarbonate visors while nearly doubling fragmentation protection. The reduction in weight allows for the addition of
more protective layers on the vision ports, enhancing overall protection, extending service life, and improving comfort compared to full-polycarbonate visors.

Incorporating the lightweight design, the visor features additional protection in its transparent section. The vision ports are double-layered: the outer layer is brittle, UV-resistant, and scratch-resistant plastic, while the inner layer is 5mm polycarbonate. The outer layer is designed to shatter upon blast or ballistic impact, dissipating energy and providing enhanced protection for the polycarbonate inner layer. Additionally, the aramid components of the visor are lined with nylon, which improves UV resistance and water repellency for greater durability. Field tests confirm that the visor’s field of view is excellent and equal to that of full polycarbonate transparent visors.

The visor is capable of withstanding the blast effects of 240g of TNT from a distance of 60 cm, providing frontal protection for the face and throat. It is manufactured in compliance with IMAS 10.30 standards.

Advantages

Ease of servicing and maintenance. The modular design allows for easy removal and replacement of individual components. The outer transparent layer can be replaced when needed, ensuring long-term usability.

Compatibility with existing mine action equipment. The PPE is compatible with existing mine action equipment, ensuring efficiency and reliability in demining operations.
